Helsinki University’s units in Viikki, Meilahti and Kumpula carry out research that is relevant to HBSP’s core expertise.
Viikki Biocentre is a significant European bioscience cluster that includes the faculties of bioscience, veterinary medicine, pharmacy and agriculture and forestry. In addition, Viikki is home to several world-leading research units such as the Institute of Biotechnology and the Neuroscience Centre.
Helsinki University’s research and teaching activities in the field of medicine are concentrated in the Meilahti and Ruskeasuo districts. The facilities of the Helsinki University Central Hospital (HUCH) as well as the Biomedicum Helsinki Centre for Medical Research and Training, which has facilities for approximately one thousand medical experts, are also located on the Meilahti Campus.
The Cumpula Campus is the largest natural science cluster in the Nordic region. The focus of the Faculty of Science is on the exact sciences that include geography and geology in the form of applied and complementary disciplines.
